NewsBusters reports that the Obama Rose Garden health care reform pitch was nothing more than a photo-op. Most doctors arrived in business attire, but were handed out white lab coats to make a more powerful scene for Obama. Desperate to show how popular his plan is with physicians, the White House would not start the press conference until all the doctors wore lab coats (I thought it looked a bit strange). Obama presented nothing new in his address - even tough his plan has been shown to be unsustainable and would make medical care worse in the long run.

The establishment media naturally did not report the staging or dressing-up of the audience. “Rather than cover the clear attempt by the President to use visuals to enhance the public perception of support from the industry, media outlets chose to rehash White House talking points.”
