What will it take to reduce the size of government drastically, reduce taxes drastically, strengthen our national sovereignty, and get the politicians in Washington to leave us alone given our current direction as a nation? Will it take another Civil War or Revolution? Most people in this country do not need the government in their lives. We simply want our money, liberty, and to be left alone.
But there might be some hope on the horizon. So far eight state legislatures have introduced legislation declaring state sovereignty. This is being done as a response to the increasing size and power of the federal government as it seeks to usurp authority away from the states and the people. The federal government is increasingly at odds with both the letter and the spirit of the Constitution, and arguably has been for decades, but is obviously going to get much worse under an Obama presidency.
These 10th Amendment state resolutions are a reminder to those in federal government that they are supposed to have very limited powers, and when it assumes undelegated powers, its acts are void and unauthoritative. Most schools do not teach proper history or constitutional understanding to the students, so it’s not surprising that the federal government can get away with doing so many things they shouldn’t be able to get away with.
Politicians take an oath of office, but most of them long ago abandoned their oaths to protect and defend the Constitution and this country. Politicians are supposed to be the servants of the people, not the other way around. If only the Founders were around to see what is happening to this country, and what their suggestions would be.
For those who may have missed it, here is a great video of an impassioned plea for America to wake up.

I heard a positive talk radio host saying that America has had deep troubles before and we always bounced back but a listener compared us to the Roman Empire and once it went corrupt it was destroyed forever. Which do you think is the path we are about to repeat – recovery or destruction?
Difficult question, as I’m sure an argument could be made for both sides. If the country continues down the current path with no strong opposition, then it might very well be the decline and fall of America. We become essentially no different than any weak socialist European nation slowly committing national suicide. If on the other hand we see a strong backlash against Obama’s agenda, along with strong charismatic Republican leadership articulating conservative principles to make America whole again, then maybe things can turn around. Obama could be a one-term president, but it’s too early to tell.
