A new Washington Post-ABC News poll suggests fewer people today see president Obama as closing racial divides.

But why would he? Obama and the Democratic Party benefit greatly by fostering a sense of grievance and division within this country. The political left specializes in breaking people apart by race, gender, and class warfare in order to gain power.

Barack Obama was packaged and sold to the American public as someone who would be the post-racial president and heal the country for its past racial sins. So what did America get instead? A true-to-form progressive who routinely engages in identity politics, and is one of the most polarizing presidents in history.

Obama as a state legislator called for Trent Lott’s resignation, but now gives a free pass to Reid’s racialism. Political ideologues like Reid and Obama only pretend to care about things like race, but Party loyalty is their primary concern.

If there is a silver lining in all this, the same poll revealed that the greatest drop occurred among blacks, from 75 percent to 51 percent who believe Obama helps advance race relations. Hopefully that number will continue to drop as people awaken to the reality of how damaging it is to the country to have politicians constantly focused on race, gender, and class warfare.
