When considering someone for the Supreme Court, Obama said he wanted a nominee who could “relate to the real world and how the law affects ordinary Americans.” He supposedly wanted a champion of the “little guy,” yet he nominates the exact opposite.
People with lives in academia and perpetual paychecks cannot understand “the little guy”, or run a government. Elena Kagan has a background that includes Manhattan’s Upper West Side, to Princeton University, and on to Harvard Law School. She cannot have any real-world knowledge of what ordinary Americans go through. Her world is one of abstractions and theories, not reality.
The president should stop pretending to care about the downtrodden and then nominate people who have lived, and still live, in elitist bubbles.
