It hasn’t received as much attention as it should have, given had a Republican said the same thing it would be front page and headlines news. The last thing the political left needs is yet one more example of its fascistic tendencies to give further evidence to the claim that they are not only un-American, but totalitarian socialists as well.

Obama said during his campaign on July 2nd, 2008 in Colorado Springs that: “We cannot continue to rely only on our military in order to achieve the national security objectives that we’ve set,” he said Wednesday. “We’ve got to have a civilian national security force that’s just as powerful, just as strong, just as well funded.” Just as powerful, strong, and well funded? What a remarkable statement for a would-be American president to suggest. Even more disturbing is this statement came from a far-left ideologue, and thus reminiscent of Nazi Brownshirts.

First of all, on what basis does Obama claim there is a need for such a national security force? Yet, this is the same person who said: “I will cut investments in ‘unproven’ missile defense systems…I will not weaponize space…I will slow development of future combat systems…I will set a goal of a world without nuclear weapons…and to seek that goal, I will not develop nuclear weapons…and to achieve deep cuts in our nuclear arsenals.” Interesting how on the one hand it is all about weakening the military and our national security, but on the other hand he is in favor of creating a domestic shadow army, just as strong and powerful as the military. Whom would they police or protect?

Some will attempt to defend the president by pointing out that he only meant expanding volunteer organizations like AmeriCorps and the Peace Corps. Excuses like these still do not clarify the context of his statement, which includes being as “powerful and strong” as the military. That would be physically impossible if such an organization did not possess similar weapons and training. Moreover, can there any doubt that this force would be just an extension of Obama used to intimidate and suppress opponents. Naturally the only people who would volunteer for such a force would be Obama supporters; willing to carry out his every command with impunity. Imagine gun-toting ACORN or SEIU goons hanging around a voting booth. This is not the American way, but a fascist or communist way to carry out and enforce the political will of the left.
