The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) was recently forced to retract its position on melting Himalayan glaciers due to lack of scientific evidence.

A team of scientist behind the bogus report, lead by Dr Murari Lal, claimed that Himalayan glaciers would essentially disappear by 2035. As reported by the UK’s MailOnline, the claim “rests on two 1999 magazine interviews with glaciologist Syed Hasnain, which were then recycled without any further investigation in a 2005 report by the environmental campaign group WWF [World Wildlife Fund].”

Additionally, the WWF seems to have made some mathematical errors in its report. The group claimed the glacier was retreating at a rate of 134 meters per year, when it was supposed to say 23 meters. The WWF was embarrassed and apologized for this gross error. However, it seems their admission is now inaccessible on their website, perhaps deliberately so.

Dr Lal said: ‘We knew the WWF report with the 2035 date was “grey literature” [material not published in a peer-reviewed journal]. But it was never picked up by any of the authors in our working group, nor by any of the more than 500 external reviewers, by the governments to which it was sent, or by the final IPCC review editors.’

It appears that some of those 500 reviewers raised questions or sought verification, but Dr Lal and his colleagues ignored them. But now that they’ve been exposed, the finger-pointing has begun.

Having been forced to apologize over the 2035 claim, Dr Pachauri blamed Dr Lal, saying his team had failed to apply IPCC procedures; an accusation angrily denied by Dr Lal. Even the UN IPCC lead author is turning on Dr Pachauri, in essence calling for his resignation. As reported in the Windsor Star: “A senior Canadian climate scientist [Dr Weaver] says the United Nations’ panel on global warming has become tainted by political advocacy, that its chairman should resign, and that its approach to science should be overhauled.”

This is coming from Weaver, a scientist who is not without his own baggage as described by the Financial Post: “Not only is Mr. Weaver an IPCC insider. He has also, over the years, generated his own volume of climate advocacy that often seemed to have crossed that dangerous line between hype and science.”

How quickly man-caused global-warming went from the ‘great moral challenge of our generation’ to ‘the greatest scam in history’.

I’m tempted to say this latest scandal is the final nail in the anthropogenic global-warming coffin, especially when one includes the ClimateGate email revelations and the Copenhagen failure. But I would not put anything past the global statists of the world. Some how, some way, they will find a new scheme to centralize economic activity, redistribute wealth, and control every aspect of our lives.
